PRISMA Lab and ICAROS Center will exhibit their research at the 7th edition of Maker Faire Rome, the most important event in Europe dedicated to technological innovation to be held from 18 to 20 October.
Professor Vincenzo Lippiello with PRISMA team will present HYFLIERS, the world's first integrated robotic system with hybrid air and ground mobility with a long-reach hyper-redundant manipulator capable of reaching sites where no other robot can access, reducing the exposition of human inspectors to potentially dangerous working conditions.
Dr. Fanny Ficuciello with the team from ICAROS Center will show PRISMA Hand II, a mechanically robust anthropomorphic robot hand. The hand is highly underactuated, as the 19 joints are driven by 3 motors via elastic tendons. Nevertheless, the hand can perform not only adaptive grasps but also in-hand manipulation.
Maker Faire Rome will host the launch event of the Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Machines (I-RIM) which aims to connect the world of research and academia with the world of business and industry. Just after the official kick-off by Professor Antonio Bicchi, president of the institute, Professor Bruno Siciliano will give a brief talk on the history and future of Robotics in Italy.
I-RIM 3D, the three-day multi-dimensional event will have a special exhibition, with demonstration set ups and projects of excellence from all over the world. There will also be high-level scientific dissemination conferences and matchmaking events. Dr. Fanny Ficuciello will be lecturer at the workshop “How robots and AI are creating new paradigms for robotic surgery” while Professor Luigi Villani will chair a pitch session titled “Perception and learning”.
Consortium CREATE, which operates in collaboration with PRISMA Lab and ICAROS Center, will have an info-point to present two projects on European networks for robotics technology transfer: Digital Innovation Hub² (DIH²) and Robotics for Inspection and Maintenance (RIMA). Consortium CREATE is the National DIH for both the projects.
